In local dialect, it means 'old town'. Ideally located near the sea, it was the original town site of Alaminos. However in 1818, a group of Moro pirates called 'terong' landed in the barangay to kidnap people for sale to 'Camokon', described like an ape. The inhabitants abandoned the place in fear and moved to other barangays.
From that time on, people stayed in the present town site of Alaminos and referred to their former home as 'Baleyadaan' (baley, town; ya, an; daan, old) which means “an old town.” When the 'terongs' were gone, the old settlers returned to Baleyadaan and start a new life.
