Mangroves and Wetlands |
There are several mangrove reserves along its eight coastal barangays, starting from Bangrin wetlands in in the northwest tip of barangays Pangapisan, Mona, Cayucay, Baleyadaan, Lucap, Bued , Sabangan and Magamo-gamo wetlands in the southeastern end. These mangrove areas which is about 36 hectares, serves as habitat and breeding grounds for marine bio-diversity. Mangrove areas also serve as home for the endemic and migratory birds, as well as it also acts as a carbon sink, prevents soil erosion, and protects coastal area from storm surges.
